    | Grace Mykonos [Luxury Boutique Hotel]

    Mykonos, Day 1

“Today’s beautiful moments, are tomorrow’s beautiful memories”….Those were the words I was greeted with, at the exclusive boutique hotel, Grace Mykonos. Now sitting back here in Cape Town writing this blog entry, those words ring so clear and #myGraceJourney will undoubtedly be one of those that linger a little longer than normal 😉

It was my first time to Mykonos, and I somewhat had an idea of what to expect – some old-town charm, shades of blue everywhere and lots of little bars and restaurants. What I didn’t expect however, was the tranquil setting found at Grace Mykonos. It’s situated only a few minutes north of the town, facing the ocean and Agios Stefanos beach. Arriving and settling in at the hotel, it felt like I was out on a serene island and not around the corner from the hustle and bustle of a well-known party town.

On arrival at Grace Mykonos I was led to snap a pic next to the olive tree, a symbol of Greece and its culture. This is where those words came in…. The photo taken by the olive tree was a polaroid, and immediately placed in a welcome card quoting, “Today’s beautiful moments, are tomorrow’s beautiful memories,” something, that as a guest at Grace Mykonos you can take home with you and look back on.

The Grace Mykonos team offered a warm welcome with a glass of bubbly and the perfect introduction on the hotel, filling me in on everything you’d need to know and everything you could want to know. Sitting in reception it’s hard to miss that this is a designer space, all the details are a perfect fit. There is even a boutique gallery showcasing contemporary artistic expressions from around the island. Assuring you the team is at your disposal, I was led to my room feeling very comfortable already.

Stepping into the suite, it’s clear luxurious rooms and facilities are top of the list at Grace Mykonos. With a bespoke service, where you can select your room scent, pillow choice or shampoo preference on booking – the personal touch makes Grace Mykonos more than just a fabulous beach hotel! You find yourself relaxed and feeling at home and that’s without even mentioning that there is a world-class spa with a variety of soothing and revitalizing treatments on the first floor.

I found a bottle of vino waiting in the suite, along with tantalizing taste treats and a super cute memory box. The idea with the memory box is you collect a shell or beach sand or anything that means something to you on this journey, and you take it home in the memory box. What I particularly loved about the suite, besides having an outdoor heated plunge pool on the patio, was the bathroom. I loved the modern cement-look walls in the bathroom – so stylish.

Watching the sunset that evening from the patio, with beautiful views of the ocean and the island of Delos in the distance, I could pinch myself. I was finally in Greece!

    Mykonos, Day 2

The next morning was an easy start, I took my time getting up and made my way down for breakfast by the pool. The breakfast menu changes all the time, so it makes breakfast less predictable. The food is beyond delicious! You can also ask for special breakfast requests that are not on the menu that day, and if the kitchen is able they’ll whip it up for you. After a very satisfying eat-fest I decided I’d go peak through the art gallery and then head down to Agios Stefanos beach, which is a stone’s throw away from the hotel.

If you’d rather leave the planning of your day to someone else, Grace Mykonos offers a concierge service that will be your guide to the island. You simply point out what you enjoy and an itinerary will be drawn up for you. There are also suggested itineraries available for those short on time or with a more flexible schedule.

That evening I planned to explore a bit more of Mykonos at night. Conveniently I just let the front desk at the hotel know I wanted to go into town and they organised a shuttle transfer for me. I only had to let them know 30 minutes in advance and transport would be arranged.

Mykonos is known as one of the most popular Greek islands. Whether it’s because of the old-school tavernas and charming town, massive selection of bars, restaurants and nightlife, or the gorgeous views and beaches, Mykonos remains a number one tourist destination.

    Mykonos, Day 3

Waking up to room-service can never be a bad idea! I chose to have breakfast on my room patio to look-out on the ocean. But let’s be honest, minus the view, knowing I could just roll out of bed, slip my robe on and fill my tummy, was quite appealing too. 😉

Room service is also available 24 hours – so for those late-night snack attacks, the kitchen has you covered.

Grace Mykonos was designed with a blend of traditional elements and modern touches. The hotel captures all the surrounding beauty with its positioning, and captivates guests with its feel and warm aesthetic. With a gorgeous pool and classy restaurant and bar facilities, you’d have no reason to leave the hotel. There is a gym for those needing to sweat it and a spa for those wanting a calmer experience. The staff are warm and friendly and I guarantee, a Grace Mykonos stay is that one everyone remembers. It’s the ideal setting for a Mykonian island holiday, and it stays with you…it just does.
    Besos,
